RAGHUNATH TEMPLE

                      RAGHUNATH TEMPLE

Let me share my experience of the most precious place in Jammu region of J&K which is an HINDU TEMPLE. It is located in the jammu city. The place where this temple is situated is called RAGHUNATH BAZAR. It consist of 7 hindu shrines.

HISTORY
RAGHUNATH TEMPLE was constructed by MAHARAJA GULAAB SINGH in the year 1835 and later his son MAHARAJA RANBIR SINGH completed its construction in the year 1860. This temple has many gods but the presiding deity is LORD RAMA or RAGHUNATH, an avatar of LORD VISHNU. The walls of this temple are decorated with 300 icons of god and godesses including SURYA AND LORD SHIVA. Its painting is based on the themes of RAMANYA, MAHABHARTA and BHAGVAD GITA.

During the reign of RANBIR SINGH, the temple started a paathshaala which never discriminate the castes and classes. The temple has a library with some 6000 manuscripts. The library contains a dozen sanskrit birch bark codices in the sarada scripts as an object of curiosty. Singh funded a translation centre and included an effort to translate texts in Arabic and Persian language into Sanskrit.
Firstly, there is SURYA ICON, which is another manifestation of LORD VISHNU. It is built over a raised platform of 5 ft(1.5 m) height in an octagonal shape. The front is 40ft in width while the main shrine is about is 50 ft away from the entry point. There are also residential building and cattleyards. The front has three entry doors. This temple has free lockers outside for sleepers, shoes, etc. The atmosphere is so divine and peaceful in the temple. There are several markets outside the temple. It is really a very neat and clean temple.

The temple is located at a distance of about 5 km from the railway station and about 8km from the airport. Its timing is from 6 am to 8pm. This historical RAGHU temple was attacked by terrorists inn 2002 and the temple was closed for sometime but later in 2013, the gates of  the temple were once again opened for devotees. It looks wonderful especially on all the festivals which are celebrated with great joy in this temple. The festival RAMNAVMI attracts a number of devotees from all around the country.

I HAVE SHARED MY VIEWS WHICH I HAVE EXPERINCED IN THIS DIVINE PLACE. SO, IF YOU WANT TO ADD SOME MORE BEAUTIFUL EXPERINCES IN YOUR LIFE SPAN THEN KINDLY VISIT HERE.
                                   THANKYOU FRIENDS
